Mitchell’s Fund + Mitchell’s House

During the spring semester of my senior year, I was the public relations intern for Mitchell’s House+ Mitchell’s Fund. Mitchell’s House is a non-profit that offers counseling and play therapy services to children with serious illnesses, their parents and siblings. When a child is diagnosed, it can impact the entire family who can become anxious, overwhelmed, and exhausted. Mitchell’s House offers services regardless of a family's ability to pay. During my internship, I helped create content for the organization, I created content for their upcoming gala and I helped kickstart Meg's speaking career.

Introducing the Organization

Mitchell’s House is the first of its kind. Therefore, not many people know what it is. I helped create content to show was Mitchell’s House and Mitchell’s Fund do as well as why people should support the organization.

Meg McElwain The Inspirational Speaker

Meg, a “Momcologist”, the founder of Mitchell’s House, decided she wanted others to hear her story and experience with mental health. She specifically wanted residents in teaching hospitals to have this opportunity. I helped craft her pitch, did outreach and tried to create eye-catching opportunities.

Social Media Posts

I helped create social media content to help increase the social media following on the organization's accounts. Due to HIPPA, patients' stories and faces cannot be shown so creativity had to be done. I focused on a social media campaign focusing on mental health, a big focus for Mitchell’s House. I also created content for giveaways Mitchell’s Fund is doing with local businesses.

Hollywood Nights Gala

This fall Mitchell’s Fund is hosting their first gala called “Hollywood Nights.” I helped curate content for the event as well as pitch ideas that would appeal to the wider audience.
